I'm a US citizen running out of pages in my passport. The US embassy website says they prefer you to mail your passport in when getting a new one, but I don't feel comfortable with that so I'm going to make an appointment and go in person.
Couple questions. Will the Embassy take my current passport while I wait for my new one? And once I receive my new one, how do I get my current visa transferred from the old passport (which they will presumably keep and destroy) to the new one?
Any details you can supply for how the US embassy handles this would be appreciated.
90 day report at the airport immigration office drive up in Chiang Mai. Heads up
Used the drive up on my motorbike as I had many times before and expected to hand over my passport as usual for processing. Nope. Need to fill in what looks like the form from some time ago.
So much for the streamlined, simplified, paperless drive up service. I returned with the passport and form next day…the officer kindly gave me a blank form for the next visit.
So…take a filled 90day form inhand on your next drive up visit.
Applying for TR via the e-visa website (thaievisa.go.th). Filled out application online and sent passports and paperwork to Chicago consulate one week ago today by registered USPS (as requested by the site). According to the USPS, our passports were delivered two days later, but the website status still says, "Post your passport and e-appointment" -- no confirmation that it is being processed. Is this delay normal? Should we follow up by phone or email?
Just closed the under consideration loop in CM (Covid Extension). There was about 15 people. No lines they just asked everyone to run up and hand over the passport.
It took about 25 min from handing over passport to getting it back. Didn't need anything and I wasn't asked any questions.
