What should I know about the DTV visa in Thailand, especially regarding taxes for digital nomads?

Hey everyone, does anyone in Bangkok have contacts for the DTV visa? I’m specifically looking at the Muay Thai option since there’s no clear info on the tax situation for digital nomads.

From what I understand, once you stay in Thailand for over 6 months, you become a tax resident, meaning any income earned while in TH is taxable. I haven’t seen any official clarification stating otherwise. Has anyone here been asked to pay taxes or provide extra documents while on the DTV?

Would love to hear real experiences—thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post seeks information about the DTV visa in Thailand, specifically regarding the Muay Thai option and tax implications for digital nomads. It raises concerns about becoming a tax resident after six months in Thailand and questions about taxation on income earned while living there. Commenters clarify aspects of the DTV visa fees and tax assessment rules—highlighting that only income remitted to Thailand may be taxed, and suggesting consulting a tax expert for clarity.

@Was***
proof read what?

You're the one who thinks you have to pay 10,000 baht 2 times a year when it clearly states on the gov site that it is for the 5 years one time charge of 10,000 baht 🤷‍♂️😂

Again reading comprehension isn't your strong point in life .

My statement stands as valid

The DTV is 10,000 period. You pay once, not every entry.

I totally understand that, the paragraph that was speaking about the cost isn’t relevant, it was just to get an understanding on the tax situation that’s what matters

You misunderstand. Even if you were to become Thai Tax Resident tax is not assessable on all global income. Only that remitted to Thailand and subject to Double Taxation Agreents and allowances. Consult a tax expert.
