Should I enter Thailand on a visa-exempt basis or present my DTV when returning on a different UK passport?

Can't seem to post as myself for some reason. I have 2 uk passports and the one attached to my dtv is away at another consulate outside thailand getting a visa. I'm returning to Thailand in the next few days on another passport. Should I enter visa exempt or present my dtv(it's the printed pdf type) and try to explain?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A traveler with two valid UK passports seeks advice on entering Thailand while one passport is at a consulate for a visa. The discussion focuses on whether to enter visa exempt with the passport in possession or to present the DTV (Digital Visa) attached to the other passport. Key points include the importance of showing both passports at immigration, concerns about potentially invalidating the DTV visa, and the risks associated with entering on the passport not linked to the DTV.

For clarity, when the Thai DTV Visa is "attached" to the other UK Passport Book #2, do you mean an actual Thai Visa Sticker or do you the approved Thai E–Visa PDF is associated with that other UK Passport Book #2?

If it is a Thai E–Visa PDF, then I would enter Thailand on the Thai DTV E–Visa PDF with UK Passport Book #1 and should be no problems....

However, if it is a Thai Visa Sticker DTV, then following what others have already Commented....

Sounds like you're gonna be stuck at the desk and possibly told can't enter truly!

They'll see it all when you scan in and face recognition software will also

Then they're gonna ask you why you don't have the corresponding passport and why you have 2 different valid ones

You're gonna take a hell of a gamble and the odds are not in your favor at all.

To them it's a red flag even though you have a valid visa. You should have atleast made a copy of your other passport then tried to explain

But as it stands many officers already do not like the DTV visas so you're gonna def be questioned majorly!

Good luck but I'd have a backup flight that leaves very shortly after your arrival in case they reject your entry 😉

To many are scamming the system anymore and they're not playing about it.

I'd be waiting to get the other passport back before I rolled the dice personally

Suck it up thail isn't going anywhere after all 🤷‍♂️

The guy posting this is my friend, like me he has 2 uk passports as he works in the oil industry. The reason he is allowed 2 passports is because he will often need a visa from the country that he will be working in next, but will also need his passport to go to his current work in a different country. So he is allowed 2 passports so one can be getting a visa whilst he is using the other one. It's not a new and an old passport. They are both valid.

Unfortunately he has used the passport with his thai DTV in for a visa to go to India and it won't be returned for 2 weeks.

What will happen if he enters thailand with his other uk passport visa exempt( the one that isn't associated with his DTV) will that effectively cancel his DTV visa?

Can he show a copy of his uk passport associated with the dtv visa and enter on the passport that he has in his possession?

I know he will not need more than the 60 days that you get stamped in for with visa waiver, but it's about what will happen to the DTV will it become invalid or still be able to be used on his next entry?

Thanks if anyone knows

Entering visa exempt with the non DTV passport will not cancel the DTV unless he brings up DTV entry on arrival. Just enter as per usual, then when he has the DTV related passport use that for DTV entry.

You enter on the passport that is associated with the DTV visa. The PDF vids you got will clearly state the passport number

You will need to present both passports to immigration to enter on DTV

certanly not true as i have entered 3 times with the correct one without the second passport.

Anonymous participant but your DTV is attached to the other passport number. When entering on the passport attached to the DTV, there is no need to include your other passport. Very different.

yes but if i could present both passports, i would have no need to enter on the one without the dtv.

Anonymous participant: That is the point! Do you think they are going to let you enter on a visa linked to another passport that you can’t present? I have had visas linked to other passports (expired, out of pages, etc.), but I am able to present it with my current passport. Why did you leave that passport at embassy and not your other one? When will it be ready to pick up?

my company used the wrong pasport details, i wasnt aware it would take 2 weeks, and I dont want to stay out of thailand that long, all of which is irelevant as to the question ive asked.
John *******
Anonymous participant none of your response makes any sense. If it was an in person drop off, you could have told your company that they were using the wrong passport. Why would you apply via an embassy outside of Thailand versus one in Bangkok and why not check how long it takes? Two weeks isn’t that long. That said, I don’t think you will have much luck entering without the passport associated with the DTV on hand, but if only entering for 2 weeks, probably can enter visa exempt

it was a passport drop off and biometeic check, work permits have already been issued with the same passport number, nobody knew the visa was not issued om the day until the day. India only issues visas in your country of residency. The one in bkk had already refused, so I was flown to london.

Your DTV is attached to the passport you applied with until that passport is finished and you have a new passport.
