Im currently on non-b visa extension which ends on the 6th December die to being terminated from job.

I would like to make a border run to Laos to receive tourist visa, is that possible in my case?

You need to get a letter from your employer stating that you will be finishing work on the 6th December. Take that along with your work permit before the 6th to the ministry of labour and have them cancel your work permit effective of the 6th. Then go to the immigration office and have them cancel your existing extension. They will give you a new stamp until the 6th.

Leave by then and you can apply anywhere that allows you to apply for a tourist visa. Whether the Laos embassy/consulate will issue one straight after a Non B extension is up to their policy.
