you can do that sure. i believe according to the DTA you can also just pay the tax in germany and would not have to pay in thailand. both countries claim tax residency for you and then there is like 4 deciding factors written in the DTA which in our cases usualy are in favor of germany and to pay tax there. article 4 (maybe also 5).
Read the DTA. you pay tax in germany. you might get a thai tax id from the RD and can fill some forms next year but you wont be taxed again… both countries claim tax residency for you and then the DTA comes into play. it should be no issue at all… stay registered in germany and nothing else to do. everything else is fearmongering or overdoing things.
i also read about the 3 month IDP thing but that was rumors in a forum. i tried hard to find a law that explicitly states this and there is none. the law is very general and only states that you need a valid license which an IDP (1 or 3 years) would be in combination with your home license.
depending on the location its a very fast process to get your thai licenses. and super cheap as well
pretty sure that you could get the non immigrant visa via eVisa from your home country and it wont require a thai bank account. you would then have time to open the account for the extension where you will show the proof.
i got declined at Bangkok Bank everytime when i tried in the past 7 months with the DTV. its not the case that they will do the „insurance way“ anymore
but he is absolutely right. and he did not say that there is any checks right now.. but it is likely that there will be checks further down the line. for an extension you would already need to proof your participation with pictures…
not a good idea to have large amount of money in Wise if we consider all the negative reports about accounts beeing locked overnight and people struggling for months with the support to access their money again. Its great for quick transfers but i would just only use it like that and only have small sums in their bank.
