$800k Baht question: Do I have to have the 800,000baht in the bank two months before the extension date on a non-o retirement visa? What happens if I only have it there for one month?!

Let's say my 12 month extension falls on May 15th. And I top up my bank account to 800,000Bhat on May 1st?

Hi everyone,

I'm currently in the process of selling up (UK) and moving to Thailand on either an ed visa for a year or a retirement Non O.

Would i be able to study Thai on a retirement visa?

Also on Bank/savings accounts. Most of the banks offer ex pat accounts, do i go for one of those? (which one?) or move all my funds to a online or thai account? I'm looking to stick a large lump into a compound interest account to keep me going till my pension kicks in.

Any advice welcome, especially similar personal experiences.

Many thanks in advance.

Kop khun mak krap.

Maybe I've been reading things incorrectly, but it seems like on the evisa retirement non O, it was said you get 2 months on arrival, then can extend for 30 days, and then can extend for 1 year by getting the bank account etcetera.

We just arrived today with our non o retirement visa and both I and my mom were given 90 days right away

I am confused about when to file a TM30. I have a mulri-entry Non-O retirement visa. I have filed my first 90-day report.

1. I went to Bangkok for an overnight in a hotel. Does the hotel file a TM30? Do I need to file a TM30 when I return home to Pattaya?

2. I go to Singapore for a week. When I return, my 90-day reporting period is reset, and I must file a TM30?

Thanks for your serious, helpful response!

Just visited phuket immigration for the latest list of documents for the Non O retirement visa. There seems to be a couple of changes from last year. Photo copy of every Thai stamp in passport, all photo copies of documents in portrait NOT landscape. Must update your Tm30 (address) at room 101 or drive through first on day of application. Bank statement from visa issue date.

My Non-O Retirement visa is valid until May 2025. But I plan to move out of Thailand by December 2024. What am I legally supposed to do regarding Immigration? Do I have to notify them ahead of time? Or just at the airport? Or can I just go and do nothing?
