Hi all, I noticed this post [members only]/ from about 2 months ago, but I would like to ask what are the requirements for applying first time around, not for extension. I just re-entered Thailand today on a 60-day visa exemption. My Thai child will be born in a few weeks. Can I apply inside Thailand (Udon) or do I have to apply at Vientiane? Can I go from visa-exempt to Non-Imm O based on Thai child? Will it take the form of an initial 90-day visa, followed by an extension for the year? How long does 400,000 THB need to be in the bank for? Any other requirements specific to the first time application? Many thanks! 🙏

Getting a retirement visa (O Visa)

Goal:

1) 6 months in Thailand at first, Me alone

2) return to Australia for two months

3) Bring wife and child to Thailand (korean wife/Australian Child)

My thinking:

a) arrive in Thailand, visa on arrival, 2months stay. (Or apply for a Tourist visa before leaving Australia)

b) start applying for a retirement visa (O- visa) on second month.

c) before the end of my 6 month stay, I'll have a retirement visa, and hopefully, obtained in Early November, which is a better month for me to renew in the future

Doing this, it lays down the groundwork to get my wife and child as dependent from my visa.

*As a few years back, I recall we couldn't apply all at the same time, wife and child had to be outside of Thailand and once I got my Retirement visa (O-Visa) I then could do a dependance visa from my Visa. (still the same deal?)*

Wife thinks it's better if she gets a guardian visa for herself and child and I get my own visa(Ovisa)

Your thoughts?

Much appreciated

Seeking advice about the 1 year extension based on having a Thai Wife - at ChaengWattana.

* Is booking required, or are walk-ins also accepted? First available booking on the website is 3 Jan, I need to apply on 6 or 9 December. Is it better to arrive early to be at front of queue, or are afternoons quieter?

* does anyone have a recent copy of the document checklist they could provide me. I've been working of Phitsanulok checklist, so not sure what requirements would be different.

* For the B400,000 statement and letter from the bank, can that be from a few days before the application, or do I have to get something from the bank on the morning of application

* Does the KorRor22 have to be printed same day as application, or can be earlier? Phitsanulok office require it printed same day as the application.

* How much notice do they normally give before home visits? What if you are out at the shops, visiting friends, restaurant, etc?

For reference - I'm on an Australian passport, with Non-Imm O visa. Current entry stamp expires 9 December, visa stamp is already expired. Married to Thai wife. We tried to apply today at Phitsanulok immigration, since we are currently staying there, however, have been sent to apply at Bangkok immigration since that is our more primary residence (we alternate between both locations frequently) and were planning to be there most of December.

Phitsanulok immigration said there would be 3 home visits during the 30 day under application period, and at least 1 would be unannounced, and if we were not home when they turned up the whole visa would simply be cancelled.

Any advice appreciated, as I'd like to avoid multiple trips out to ChaengWattana.

Hello everyone. Just thought I would post an update on my Non-Imm O visa extension. Yes, it's technically an extension of stay based on the original Non-O visa but everyone knows what I mean.

At any rate, got original Non-O visa based on marriage in May 2023 in Savannakhet when they weren't requiring financial information. It was a one year multiple entry. At the time I was living and working in Phetchaburi but my salary was less than 40,000. I tried extending down there, but they wouldn't accept my salary plus earnings from online teaching. So, I just waited and at the end of one year I got a 60-day extension to visit Thai wife.

In the meantime I had moved to Bangkok and got a teaching job with a salary higher than 40,000 baht. I started that job in March of 2024. Today I applied for my extension in Bangkok with paperwork from my school and other than a few minor hiccups, which we were able to fix without leaving immigration, got my "under consideration " stamp. I will go back on October 15 for my 1-year stamp.

Because I did it based on income of at least 40,000 baht per month, I didn't need to show any bank account information. Only proof of salary from school (3 months) and proof of tax payment. The rest of the stuff were the normal documents for Non-O extension based on marriage to a Thai.

Hope this helps. Really not too much work since I had the necessary documents from my job.

I have an 8:30 appointment tomorrow 6-3-24 at Chang Watthana for a one year extension of my Non-Imm O visa. Yesterday, 4-3-24, I received my bank letter, transaction history and updated my passbook with a deposit that day. Do I need to make another deposit on 6-3-24, the same day as my appointment? If so, do I also need a photocopy of the page showing the deposit on that morning?

Thanks for any insight !

After having re-applied for my Non-Imm O and receiving the final stamp in Nov. 2023, I am due beginning of Feb. for my first 90 DR.

My question is, do they still require it to be in person at CW, or can I do it online?

Also, is there an office somewhere near Lumphini Pk. for 90 DR. or is it only at CW.

Thanks

I am Canadian.

I entered Thailand visa exempt 16Jan2023, exited 4Feb2023. Fly in and out

I reentered 28Feb2023, exited 9May2023

45 day exemption still in place with extension. Fly in and out

I applied and received a Non-Imm O visit family and entered 13Jul2023 with the intention of applying for 1 year extension.

My Thai citizen wife was not able to be in the country when I qualified to apply and now cannot make it back in time for me to even apply for a 60 day extension.

Will there be any problem to go to Pedang Besar by bus and return on visa exempt ? Can I go over and return same day?

Any other advice?

If it is advisable to use a border run agency, can anyone recommend a reliable service?

Please confirm if my understanding is correct.

I received a Non-IMM O visa (married to Thai wife) with multiple entry.

I entered Thailand on 6/4/23 and departed on 8/31/23 (89 days).

My plan is to return to Thailand on 11/1/23 and get stamped in for 90 days. Before the 90 days expire, I plan to leave Thailand to visit a neighboring country (probably Laos) for about a week, then return to Thailand and get stamped in for another 90 days before returning to the USA on or about 3/1/24.
