I'll be heading to laos next week(Vientiane) to submit my application and I'm not really sure what to do under the occupation part. I'm not yet at state pension age but do get a small monthly private pension (not a great deal) . I haven't worked for a few years but I don't really need to, so was wondering should I just put unemployed? I have more than the required 500,000 in one account that has been in there for around a year but if I put unemployed I wonder whether they will see the small monthly deposits from the pension fund and get a bit curious? I know no one can say for sure but I'm torn between the putting retirement or unemployed.
What is the attitude of Thailand regarding farang retiring here to pass? Like, not the guys who go broke and want to do weird shit before hopping out hotel windows, but just like really old/sick people?

If this post should be directed someplace else please let me know. Considering Thailand retirement moving from the US. We are planning to re-visit this year to more carefully explore preferred cities in terms of residing. My question is - are there neighborhoods or communities surrounding Bangkok that would be recommended to consider? We are not interested in condo/high rise living. Prefer to rent/lease a house with a bit of a yard since we are used to that plus would be moving with our dogs. Appreciate any informed opinions/advice.
