Thought I'd share exactly what I did since these posts really saved me when applying myself!
Submitted: Jan 8th (2am)
Approved: Jan 23rd (5pm)
Type: Workation (freelancer)
Total time: 16 days (11 working days, not including date submitted)
Nationality: UK
Pending Approval: 8th Jan
- no extra documents requested.
Here's everything I submitted.
Proof of funds:
* 6 months bank statements.
* Final balance of B500K+
* Final transferred from other personal account
* I did not have B500K+ for every month
Proof of location:
* Hotel receipt in Siem Reap
* Photo of entry stamp into Cambodia
Work Portfolio:
* Motivation Letter
- this stated exactly what I do for work and why I wanted to stay in Thailand to work remotely. I also mentioned what they'll find in the next few pages.
* Screenshot of my LinkedIn profile
* Screenshots of my website with work examples
* 2 x signed contracts (with sensitive information redacted)
* Letter from a client confirming when we started working together and the ability to conduct work from anywhere
Honestly, it was a long wait in Cambodia. But I'm so glad to finally have it and get back to Thailand!
Now hoping for a smooth immigration process 🤞 (touch wood)
-Bank statement over the last 6 months, with the final balance of 500k THB (can be transferred e.g. in the last week)
I also took a print screen of the final balance on the day I applied (sometimes the statement shows the previous date not current date, the day of applying)
-A medical certificate with condition, proof of following appointment and treatment plan for the coming 6 months. All official with paper of health center/ doctor, stamp and signature.
Showing proof of previous appointment(s) is not being asked, but I think it is a plus if you do.
At first the Embassy said "please provide appointment letter with hospital and a letter from them stating your condition for the hospital additionally, if you have any receipt/ any document proven your related project it is recommended to attach with main document."
However during the process I am being asked to show an extra document of 6 months treatment plan. Even though it was indicated in the medical certificate that I need a check-up every x months for my condition.
-I was also being asked to show ALL pages of the passport, even the blank ones. Maybe because my passport is totally new.
-Proof of location: entry stamp Vietnam, booked hotel in Vietnam, ticket proof to Vietnam/ boarding pass. I took a photo of the accommodation's invoice, entry stamp, and boarding pass.
My process so far. I thought I had done everything perfectly, so the extra "homework" surprised me a bit.
Hello. I have just applied for the DTV and when I was asked for current location proof (I apply from my homecountry) I put bills, bank statement with adress and national id. Will it be enough?
What is possible to apply for my kids as a proof of location? They haven't any id and the adress isn't written in the passport...
I am currently in Bali. When I arrived here, I used an automatic gate at the airport immigration, therefore, my passport was not stamped. I want to apply for an e-visa for Thailand, what document do I need to submit for proof of location? Is a hotel reservation sufficient? Thanks
Americans can apply online for a DTV while in America, but my question is, how would they know if you weren't in America at the time of applying?
Has anyone been in this situation and had no issues?
AND
For Thai soft-power reasons does anyone have any additional info for what's required... like how many medical procedures must I have planned and over what period of time to be able to use the recommendation letter?
Applied from Ho Chi Min, Vietnam. Applied on Thursday, got accepted today (Monday).
- Provided my September (only) bank statement, with balance shown of course.
- A friend of mine has been asked to provide, as a proof of location, his passport stamp proving he was in Vietnam as well as a hotel OR flight booking. So I did submit my stamp and hotel booking.
- As I’m a freelancer, I provided for my proof of work a PDF containing links to and screenshot of my LinkedIn, GitHub and portfolio.
Everything was done online. Haven’t been to the embassy.
Applied for evisa from Vietnam (HCMC) and it got approved last night. I applied last friday evening the 11th of october. On tuesday they requested additional docs. And this morning i woke up to see that the visa got approved last night.
Since I applied on friday night, and monday was a national holiday, it only took 2 working days to get my visa approved. It could have been just 1 working day, if I delivered the right documents the first time.
I applied as a remote worker as I have my own digital marketing business, so what I did was i just made a little document explaining what I do, who i work with, what my goals are in thailand, etc.
Then I just added a couple links to my main website and a link to some client case studies, but the problem was that my site is in Dutch, as i serve Dutch and Belgium clients.
So they requested additional information with the remark that everything should be in English or Thai. After that, I spent an hour or 2 to translate some key pages on my website to English. I also added a link to my Google My Business profile.
After this adjustment the visa application got approved.
For proof of location i uploaded another bank statement where I highlighted a recent ATM transaction in Da Nang.
