hello, I've been in Thailand for five months. my 6-month multi-entry visa expires in August, I want to go to Malaysia for 3 weeks, then apply again for a 6-month one. do you think they will approve them for me again?

How many times did you leave Thailand, and how long did you stay out each time? And were you actually travelling around Thailand? They may deem you don't need a Multi entry, and just give you a tourist visa.

They may also determine you are trying to live in Thailand, and suggest you apply for an appropriate visa.

Your obviously trying to live in Thailand so why not get the proper visa most consulates will not issue back to back tourist visas

If you apply for a new METV on top of the present one, you actually show, that you are on a wrong visa, since you will show you are not a tourist, but a person trying to stay permanent long time in Thailand, on short time visas

If you leave and reenter Thailand before the expiry date of your visa in August (even 1 day before) you will be stamped in for 60 days which you can extend by an additional 30 days at the immigration office that serves the area where you live in Thailand. After that you will find it difficult to spend more time in Thailand unless you get a non tourist visa

many Europeans apply in the E-visa system of their home country, while they are physically abroad. It works! Some embassies even allow a flight departing from another country than their home country. I would say

can try his luck. But I think Thai embassy Vienna will not issue a new METV on top of the one he just has finsished using. There needs to be a certain period of waiting in between two METV

understand that Thai embassies are pretty advanced, if they want to be, and can easily check your passport entries into most any country. If you are applying from your home country, but your passport number doesn't show you being there, it will be refused. They do know about VPNs.

I ran an email request to the Royal Thai Embassy Berlin in 2022, asking them if I can apply for a tourist visa whilst being in Malaysia or Vietnam

They replied, that the Online E-Visa Application System is “ortsunabhängig” (“location independent”) and that an applicant does not have to be in his home country physically, in order to apply through the system.

This is only good for the Royal Thai Embassy Berlin . . other embassies might turn away such a request. It’s the famous TIT – this is Thailand where the left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing

many countries do not stamp or otherwise register when you are returning home to that country as a citizen. There will often be no record to check. Denmark does like that for example. You essentially just flash your passport to the IO and when they see it is Danish they just wave you on.

Unless you are from Malaysia, you won't be applying for any multiple entry tourist visa. You can only apply for this type of visa from the Thai embassy in your home country.

you can only apply for a visa in the country you are physically present in. As you will be in Malaysia that means going to a Thai consulate in Malaysia

how do you show the multiple flights required to justify a multi entry visa. How do you show a local address. How do you prove your location? And do you really expect them to issue another multi entry tourist visa even if you somehow circumvent all the checks?

none of the Thai embassies in Malaysia participate in evisa. You must apply in person at one of the Thai embassy or consulate inside of Malaysia. You would need to check the specific website of the one you want to use for their requirements
