If I test positive to COVID before my flight home, will I be forced to go into hospital quarantine?
or will I be able to quarantine in a hotel of my choice?
Thank you for any help :)

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you test positive for COVID-19 before your flight from Thailand, current guidance suggests that you may not be forced into hospital quarantine if your symptoms are mild or nonexistent. Instead, you may be required to stay in a designated 'hospitel' for isolation, likely at your own expense for about 10 days, which could delay your return flight. However, experiences may vary, as one commenter shared that a friend tested positive and faced no quarantine the day of their flight. Be prepared for potential extended stays depending on your situation.
Last week a friend of mine tested positive 2 days before his flight. No quarantine he actually was in a soi Buackow restaurant the next day , the day of his flight having fish and chips so don't worry
From posts we see here they are no longer forcing people to go to a hospital if they have mild or no symptoms. However almost certainly youâll need to go to one of the âhospitelsâ that are set up to cater for those who are positive but donât need a hospital. Whether you can choose which one I do not know. You may be forced to stay in said place for 10 days, at your expense (and therefore miss your return flight). Almost certainly youâll find that your insurance will not cover this cost as they only pay for âmedical expensesâ.
