TLDR : Answer Summary
When traveling from Thailand to Laos and Vietnam with a METV, you will need one passport photo and $35 for a Laos visa. For Vietnam, it is crucial to obtain a visa in advance or get approval for a visa on arrival; an e-visa for $25 is available online if you plan to stay for up to 30 days. Always ensure you have your passport handy during your travels.
This page is for Thai Visa advice. You have the visa, so I would say enjoy your travels to Laos and Vietnam. Bring your passport with you.

Yes one passport photo for Laos and $35 visa fee in USD. For Vietnam you need to get a visa in advance, or approval for a visa on arrival, you can't just rock up. If 30 days is enough, there is an e-visa for $25 you can do online which is probably the easiest.
