Ya need em to re enter obviously. There’s two options.

Buy the stamps one at a time…not sure how much.

Buy a Multiple entry stamp which costs maybe 3000 baht. Don’t know for sure but ya local Immigration office will tell how Much

Get one if you're on any long stay visa/extension that you want to retain when going abroad.

You fill out a form called TM8. You’ll need a copy of your passport and latest extension stamp and a photo.

There’s a single entry at 1,000 baht or multiple entries at 3,800 baht.

All the reentry permit does is allow you to keep your existing “allowed to stay” date alive.

When you return you’ll be stamped in until that date.

 Yes it does. Although the desk is after immigration. You stamp out then get your re-entry permit.

 it's also the right to further extend it. A while ago we had someone screw up his wife's non-o because he thought it was more cost-effective to use exemption. His company had to redo it all.
