if i come in on 60 day tourist visa but plan to stay longer.  i only need to buy covid insurance for 60 days as i wont need it to get the extra 30 days extension aftert that?  secondly if flying in on a 60 day tourist visa ,  can i still have a flight out lets say 5 months later even though i only have a two month tourist visa/

Covid insurance is like $40 bucks for 30 days. Don't be a cheap charlie and try to work the system. Buy the damn insurance for the time you'll be there.

THANKS garrett, so to confirm , if i have a 60 day tourist visa i need to have a ticket out exactly or before 60 days? and now u have got me thinking, u are saying if i have a 60 day visa i would only need 30 days covid insurance if i have a ticket out 30 days later ? that seems odd , as why would i get 60 day visa when i show a ticket out 30 days later?

Take a look at MisterPrakan.com for insurance. You can add onto your policy once you get to Thailand if you need more than 30 days worth.

Bro, take a deep breath.

-Buy a 60 day tourist visa.

-Buy a refundable ticket for 29 days after you arrive.

-Insurance is only sold in 30 day increments. Buy a 30 day policy.

When you arrive, you'll get stamped in for 60 days. Change your flight ticket to whenever you want after you enter the country. That's it.

thanks for clarifying . i will do that.........i think i need to show the ticket out when i apply for the 60 day visa.. they might think it odd im applying for a 60 day visa when i get a free visa for 30 days, and i show a ticket out 30 days later. they might wonder why i apply for the 60 day visa. ............i think what you are implying is that maybe i dont need to show a ticket out of thailand to apply for the 60 day visa. and only when i actually go to thailand i have to show that

ok i will try it. im now a bit confused who exactly wants to see the ticket out? the embassy when applying for visa. or immigration when i show up. regardless i will try this idea. i will apply for a 60 day visa and get a ticket out of thailand for 29 days after my arrival date into thailand and then i will buy a 3o day covid policy . think that is what u think u are saying

It's a requirement to enter Thailand as a tourist, proof of exit out of the country.

ok. so i will assume embassy will ask for ticket out when i apply for the 60 day visa. as i think they want proof of at least airline ticket in, thanks for your help. im a bit leery of the idea of showing embassy a ticket back out 29 days later, when im applying for a 60 day visa . when i would get a 30 day visa for free. why would one show a ticket out 29 days later. but i will try it

-No, covid insurance is not required for any extensions, or anything once you enter Thailand.

-No, your return ticket must be before you visa would expire. Easiest option is to buy a refundable ticket, book it for 30 days (that way you only need 30 days of covid insurance too) and then cancel to change the date after you enter the country.

not completely true, Covid insurance IS required for extentions in some cases, for example: to get an STV 90-day extension

im confused with your response as im getting a 60 day tourist visa of course i would like to only pay for 30 days covid insurance, so u are suggesting i show a ticket out of thailand lets say 35 days after arrival and once in thailand i can change the date of the ticket out , to a later date, thus i only have to buy covid insurance for the 35 days not the full 60 days

i think u are suggesting i get only a 30 day free visa. to minimize covid insurance, but if i got only a 30 day visa then i can only stay two months total, as i can only get a 30 day extention. whereas if i get a two month visa i can extend 30 days and get 90 days total.

i want to stayin thailand as long as possible in the easiest way. to me the 60 day visa is the answer and then i can extend 30 days and possibly more at a later date. i hear what u are saying . but if i get a 60 day visa , i cant really have a return ticket out 30 days later? ok maybe 31 days. so i think u are suggesting i get a 60 day visa. and show a ticket out to get the visa , 31 days .........later..................that way i can have a 60 day visa. and only pay for a 31 days covid insurance. and then once in thailand i just change the return ticket date.?
