Hi everyone, I'm about to travel to Taiwan to apply for the DTV visa.

I would appreciate it if you could share your experiences regarding the following:

1. Assuming my original documents are not in English, do they require an official translation with a notary's signature and stamp?

2. Is the visa fee only payable if I am approved? In other words, if my application is rejected, do I not have to pay?

I applied evisa in hcmc for myself and in person at taiwan for dependants. Differences evisa takes longer (expect 1.5 weeks) where as taipei took 3 days. Evisa was straight fwd, upload all the docs and that's it. In person they asked me qs like why am I applying in Taipei not hcmc.

Once approved it's not that different. Evisa you print out the email to hand over to immigration, in person they put a sticker in your passport

English or Thai, definitely translated, check their website to see if it needs to be notarized.

Fee is only taken if the paperwork is acceptable and allowed to be submitted.

Friday I submitted self translated docs with no notarization and they were accepted. You pay after approval only with the walk in at Taipei.

With Taipei they are very particular about bank statements and salary income evidenced along with company registration docs. Questions can be dealt with quicker in person. I think Evisa would prolong the current same day approval with back and forth emails to clarify points.

Vietnam is Evisa. Manilla is a walk option until end of month and my 2nd choice after Taipei. For EVisa Vietnam, Jakarta, Cambodia are great options.

Yes, best to stay in Hanoi/Vietnam incase of being asked for evidence of still being there or in person interview. You can visit other places within Vietnam after applying in Hanoi
