How can I correct my visa stamp issue after entering Thailand?

Advice needed:

Applied, paid and was granted a 60 day TR single entry visa from Thai Embassy in Australia.

I intend to take advantage of getting a 30 day extension when time is correct to do so. Maximum stay in Thailand will be 89 days.

Accommodation has been paid and return flight to Australia has been booked and paid.

Staying with friends in ChiangRai.

Problem:

Have now just realised that at entry into Thailand at Suvarnabhumi Airport I have been stamped with wrong visa class. (30 days)

(yes, I should of checked but the damage is done)

I have checked with ChiangRai Immigration and they say they cannot help me.

Apparently my only option is to fly back to Bangkok.

Can this mistake be rectified at Immigration at Suvarnabhumi Airport or do I need to go an Immigration Office elsewhere.

Come on up to Mae Sai, Chiang Rai, and bounce over to Tachilek for 500 baht, easy peasy 15 minutes.

it would probably be easier to activate your visa, with a border bounce to Laos.

Depending on your plans, You might want to extend your existing stamp 30 days before bouncing. And once the visa is activated, it too can still be extended once +30 days

Seems your TR wasn’t activated and they entered you under visa-exempt. You’ll have to go out and renter to activate the TR60, especially if ChiangRai immigration won’t help.

Just do a border bounce up north to activate your TR60 when your 30 days is up, a lot closer than BKK

You need to go back to the entry point to get the incorrect stamp corrected.

Your visa has not been used. You were stamped in for the exact number of days that your stamp showed as visa-exempt. So your stamp is not wrong.

Honestly, even if you go back to Suvarnabhumi, I doubt they would do anything on your not-wrong stamp.

You can go to the nearest border (by land or air) for a border bounce at the end of the current stamp instead of applying for a tourism extension. Leave Thailand, just back to Thailand to be entered on that unused Tourist visa. Luckily, you have a visa sticker, and it's still valid.
