Can I convert a 30-day stamp into a 60-day visa in Thailand?

Hi all, had an unusual thing happen today on landing in Bangkok.....

I paid for a 60 day single entry visa from the embassy in London.....

When I went through immigration the guy didn’t stamp it, instead gave me the standard 30 pass/stamp...

That’s no good to me as I’m staying until the 12th January....

Can I go to immigration in Udon Thani before my 60 days visa expires on the 20th December to get a 60 days pass?

Okay and I think the O/P now understands that

1 - they are not the first foreigner to be stamped into thailand with the wrong entry stamp

2 - they go to the local immigration office and get the stamp corrected

AND

they check their stamps when you're standing at passport control stamping in.

 that you didn't know the difference between the validity of a visa <- meaning how long you have after you get it to ENTER thailand and the amount of time you get stamped in for when you do enter the country has nothing to do with getting a wrong stamp. :(

Imagine stamping passports all day... and dealing with people who do not fill out forms properly and dont know how to add in the name of where they are staying. Maybe the guys made a mistake, was probly the 2000th passport he stamped that day

Wtf is up with thai immigration these days? They used to be efficient tolerant and decent, but they seem to have turned into a gang of unpredictable nazis..... 99% of us have no intentions of working here or doing anything other than spending money and contributing to their economy. I don’t get it

Bangkok Immigration has a special desk for it, as well as Phuket Immigration. You can do this at most Immigration offices, not only at International airports.

 that time i did it in chiangmai because i already fly to lampang. the lampang immigration officer told me to go to chiangmai because only can do at international airport. i went to the international departure area and there is an office in there for fixing this type of problem. you can just ask any officer (you can ask the information or the vat refund officer) in bangkok airport where is the office located.

happened to me before, the immigration told me to go to airport because they don't have the authority to change it. you go to airport and tell the officer in there, not the one behind the security

 NO, you can not go back to the airport. Immigration officers are behind the security and only accessable if you have a boarding pass. He can just visit his local Immigration Office.

 Hi Robert, the stamp was not on my Visa, but further into my passport and it only gave me until 1st January (30days) I paid for a 60 day visa

 The visa is valid till 20 Dec, THAT does not mean you can stay till 19 Dec. On entrance the officer put a square stamp in your passport with your entry date and underneath the Admitted until date, please check for that stamp and date.

Visit your local Immigration Office as soon as possible and request that they change the stamp into the 60 days as allowed by the tourist visa. And for next time, check your stamps always directly as well as checkpoints as Immigration Offices. People do make mistakes and corrections on the spot are more easy than days later.
