After approval of the DTV, over the 5 year duration of the visa, am I required to provide proof of employment/financial statements to show proof of income? Or is that a one-time deal?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Once approved for the Digital Nomad Visa (DTV), you generally only need to provide proof of income at the initial application. However, when it comes time to extend the visa after five years, you will likely need to present financial documentation again. Additionally, while in Thailand, you're required to report to immigration every 90 days, and some users suggest many opt for 'border runs' to avoid lengthy paperwork. Note that requirements can change.
yes i got the same response⦠and its also officialy stated in the Thai Immigration Bureau Order No.

you will need to proof it again if you choose to extend the visa in-country. many will just border run every 180 days which doesnt require documents besides the visa/evisa print.
border run every 180 days? Want to make sure I understand. My 180 finish on March 1st 2025, I would leave to a bordering country and return the next day and be able to stay an additional 180 days? Then repeat until law changes or visa expires?
yes. or you try to extend it inside thailand. i will most likely do that. only people with fraudulent or sketchy visa are complaining about the proof of documents :D
as far as i understand it the most important part is the financial proof. the contracts wont matter much. you could just present old ones. no one will thoroughly check these highly individual documents. but financial proof is the main thing as the mfa and io are telling us.
yeah I watched that video, seems like you will need a new recent bank statement, and probably copies of all the other documents, assuming they are still valid. Seems like the bounce may be easier.

Nah....just keep on bouncing. That's what I'm going to do. I'm going nowhere near an immigration office for the next five years! πππππ
I invite you to check the recent posts, where an updated video from a DTV representative confirms that documents will be required when extending the DTV in Thailand. So far, this does not apply to people crossing the border and returning.

Anonymous participant 271 do you mean those who leave after 180 days and returned as opposed to those who just walk in yo extend for another 180 days?
there has now been a report, that when a guy I know asked, Immigration Hua Hin about the requirements in case of an extension, the immigration officer said he wants the proof of 500.000 THB in a bank account, if he opted for the extension. They then told the guy he would be better off to bounce, as by the border nobody would ask him for his bank account details. I know the guy personally. I am not the one who would pull fairy tales out of the nose.
Take it as a statement for the moment and not a prediction of the future. The representative makes it clear during the interview that immigration has the final say on allowing entry and that the DTV may be subject to changes.

One time deal. but when you stay in Thailand you have to report to immigration every 90 days
there have now been several reports that Immigration wants the proof of 500.000 THB in your bank account, again, if you opt for the extension. So you are better off to bounce as by the border nobody will ask you for your bank account detail
500,000 bht is only requirement not that difficult. You don't have to show all other documents it just am extension not a new application you have already been granted the 5 years
like I said there has been a report that Hua Hin Immigration wants 500.000.- THB in a Thai bank account in your name, if you want to extent a DTV inside Thailand for 180 more days. Then another officer approached and told the guy, just exit and re-enter and you will be fine. As far as these "new" rules are interpreted, I suggest you do your own research, this is the updated rule on DTV extensions. Go have a Thai friend translate it for you
this is not new so what are you saying it is the same as l explained in my previous post. Read it again it's not difficult to read if you know Thai why do l need a friend to read it. It's simple. I don't understand why would l leave the country to do an extension that I am entitled to do. If you don't have the money in your account best you do s border bounce then. You are going to believe in " there has been a report" do your own research l am fine with mine
I dare to take a bet that 90% of all young digital nomads who now have successfully been issued a DTV, do not hold 500.000.- THB in their accounts all the time, by no way. They are paying for their living with these funds. Not everybody is a rich pensioner
your making a generalisation and it's just your opinion try sticking to the facts when giving visa advise not stereotyping you don't know what people have and that issue is up to them to solve.

This video published today, is the best knowledge we have. It is the same guy who conducted an interview back in July who gave us the first legit information when there weee rumors swirling. Everything he said in that interview became true. He is the Deputy Director General for Consular Services. He wouldnt on purpose spread rumors. In this interview, when questions related to taxes, etc come up, he doesnβt answer them, showing that he understands the limits of his knowledge/exposure.
you are still incorrect. extension = proof of documents again, especially financial proof. thats what the MFA says and thats what the immigration offices are telling us for months. not sure why people reluctantly refuse to believe those officials. lmao
i will extend my DTV soon and i contacted my immigration office multiple times. it doesnt get more official than officials from MFA and Immigration telling you. And you could also start reading the law text that explicitly tells you that you need 500k⦠so my IO wants to see the application documents again. but most importantly a fresh financial proof. they also said i could do a border run. this information has been out for months and confirmed multiple times by different IO and the MFA. not sure why you are still a disbeliever. in the end the IO extends my visa. and they will do on their terms.
I read what the other person posted which is l don't know from where as it wasn't a complete document with any official insignia or stamp from Thai immagration. It was in Thai only asked for 500,000,bht nothing more. As l said l will believe it when l get my extension it's a tourist visa so should be same as any other tourist visa extension. I will go 14 days before mine expires
Did you watch to new MoFA interview? Granted it is MoFA, not Immigration, but in the new interview he clearly states that Immigration will want to see updated documents and if your original training was only 6 months, you would need to show a new schedule /tuition.
