DTV - those who have applied on the basis of learning Muay Thai - do you need to pay up front for a minimum of 6-months training per year of the 5-year visa? And is the processing fee paid to the Thai Government at time of online visa application or on approval of said visa?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The requirement for a DTV visa based on learning Muay Thai generally involves a one-time payment for a 6-month training course, which does not need to be repeated each year for the duration of the 5-year visa. Furthermore, the processing fee for the visa application is paid at the time of application, and it is non-refundable if the application is rejected.

Depent on the gym.

Pay at time of application, NO REFUND if rejected.

I think your Muay Thai school has invited you to a carousell and trying to milk you. By no way you need a 6-months course every year. Ask your question in the DTV Facebook group, you will receive up-to-date info

no I'm purely asking as I didn't know. No one has told me to pay for 6-months every year.

You pay for a 6 month course. You don’t have to do a course each year.

You pay at time of application. If rejected for whatever reason you lose that application fee and have to start over.

just to clarify you pay the Muay Thai course fees to the gym you will use in advance and the gym then provides the paperwork you need to apply for the DTV

That depends on the embassy you use. Should be around the 10k baht or maybe a couple of thousand more - unless you’re applying in NZ where it’s approx 40k.
