May I ask if one has to go to immigration and labor to cancel his work permit and non b visa if one is resigning from work?
Some say this is the proper way so no hassle will be encountered at the airport and if one wishes to come back.
Thank you for your response.

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you resign from your job in Thailand, it is generally necessary to cancel your work permit and non-B visa to avoid future complications when attempting to return to the country. Typically, this cancellation process is managed by your company's HR department, and you should ensure that it is completed before you leave the country. Doing so helps ensure there are no issues at the airport regarding your visa status.
We did. But normally its your HR will do for you, you dont pass the airport before you cancel by your company. They might ask you when you will come back.
Just tell to your company that you resign and HR will tell immigration to cancel your visa.
ok. I will go to immigration to have it canceled. Thank you.

If the company won’t you have to leave the same day you cancel the extension.

I’m asking because it makes a huge difference. You can’t cancel a visa but you MUST cancel an extension of stay. If your company will do it have them write a letter saying you are leaving on xx date. Prior to that date go to MOL and cancel your work permit and go to immigration with the letter and they will re-stamp you as permitted to stay until your last working day.
