Hello Guys. What happens to your Non-B Visa and Work-Permit should you leave your current employer and hold on to the Visa and Work-permit (so visa & work-permit have not been canceled in your passport and blue book) valid for a few more months? What problems could come up? As always, grateful for any comments.

TLDR : Answer Summary

If you leave your employer while holding a Non-B Visa and a valid Work Permit, you must cancel your Work Permit at the Ministry of Labor. Your Visa will remain valid until its Enter Before Date if it is a visa sticker. However, if you have an Extension of Stay, it must be canceled on the same day you resign. Failing to cancel your Work Permit and Visa extension may lead to overstaying penalties if you exit the country later.

If you leave your current Employer you hand in your Work Permit at the Ministry of Labor. If you have a Visa (sticker from Consulate/Embasy) in your passport this stays valid till Enter Before Date on the Visa. If you're inside the Kingdom on an Extension of Stay (stamp from Immigration) you need to cancel this on the same day as the Work Permit, apply for new extension if possible if not get the application is not approved stamp and 7 days to leave the country.

Correct, you are allowed to stay inside Thailand due your job, no job means not more allowed to stay. Only way to stay legally on this Extension is to make the deal with your employer to get paid till 24 April, pay taxes, social security for you and the Thai staff members. I guess he want you to work for that salary.

A few question to be clear. I would have to cancel this extension the day I resign from the company (let's say today)? If I do not cancel my work permit and visa extension on that day I am overstaying my visa and will be fined on my way out if I exit (let's say April)? There is no way a I can stay in Thailand legally on that extension/visa if I quit my job without having a new one lined up?

Could be they require proof of monthly personal income tax payments by the company of those months when you actually cancel

You'll have it but for applying a new visa and work permit from your new employer, will need to cancel the precious visa and work permit from your first employer. This is what said my boss today as I had the same question
