Can’t fly back to cancel my ED visa on time. Can I fly back on exemption after expiration?

In my home country (Philippines) right now applying for a Schengen visa. Current visa expires Jan 14 but it might take a while for me to get my passport back.

My cats and my stuff are still in Bangkok and I have plans to get another long-term visa later this year.

What’s the best recourse here? Think I shouldn’t have a problem reentering through exemption for now but I could be wrong. TIA

My ED visa was for a year. I have two covid extension stamps and I’ve visited Vietnam and the Philippines another time during my visa period. That’s why I’m worried.

with your ED visa did you do extensions with immigration every 90 days with the paperwork your school gave you? If not you could have problems, as immigration will view you as someone trying to stay long term without the correct visa extension

Entering on visa Exempt is fine when you return.

But if you try to get another long term visa or extension and you haven't cancelled your ED extension, you'll be fined 20,000 baht and you have to take care of that before you can get a new long term visa/extension.

no, the 20,000₿ fine is for not cancelling it because you signed a paper that said you would cancel it when you stopped studying.

it should only become an issue if you try to get a long term visa or long term extension. Just tourism stuff probably will be fine.

your visa doesn't matter. Your entry is what matters. If you've done multiple exit and re-enter or have covid extension stamps in your passport you may run into issues.
