What Are My Options for a Visa Between My Non-O and ED Visa in Thailand?

Good afternoon, 

My current Non-O visa expires on the 20th of November 2019. I have enrolled to study at Siam Technology College but I can only apply for my ED Visa in December. 

I currently need a visa from the end of November until I get my ED Visa in December. The college has advised me to leave the country and come back in on a visa exemption as there is no way for me to get ED visa documents right now as the first semester only starts in January 2020 so the earliest I could get ED visa documents will be in December. 

I plan to fly to Vietnam and spend four nights there and fly back into Thailand and get a visa exemption stamp. Is that a good idea? Or is there an option of me getting another visa exemption by land? 

I am a South African. I have one visa exemption from flying in. One visa exemption by land. 1 tourist visa and 1 Non-O visa. 

Please advise on any other options that I might have.

One last time, AVOID flying out and back (unless you're gonna stay out of the country a good while before you come back) because you run a high risk of getting pulled aside, questioned and or denied entry by air.

It's typical for the visas to be processed by the immigration office in Chaengwattana.

Make sure you have at least 2 weeks left on the visa when you apply.

Why the needs, you spend long days in schools to study and you go back to school again to study, why not use these few weeks to explore other countries for a nice holiday?

you could get one more 30 day visa exempt entry by land this year

BUT as a S/A passport holder you need to make sure you bounce at a border that will let S/A passport holders bounce there

Definitely do the bounce by land versus an air out and in. The last thing you need is to be pulled aside and grilled about your entry history if you fly in.

So you have been living in Thailand this year of 2019?

If so, you may have difficulty in obtaining an Ed Visa....

But as I reread your post...what University or College are you planning to attend?

Siam Tech College usually gets ED visas in-country from the immigration office. if that's the case they won't have ANY problem at all.
