As a DTV holder has anyone successfully purchased Motorbike Insurance? I’m told that as it is still categorised as a “Tourist Visa” that Insurance companies may not insure!🙏👍 also I’ve only held my Thai Motorbike License for less than one year.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion centers around whether holders of a DTV (Digital Tourist Visa) can obtain motorbike insurance in Thailand. A variety of responses indicate that the type of visa typically does not affect insurance eligibility; rather, it is more reliant on holding a valid Thai driver's license. Several users shared their personal experiences of obtaining motorbike insurance without issues, noting that they provided necessary residency certificates and that many insurance providers focus on licensing rather than visa type. One user mentioned a specific insurance provider, Roojai, which was affordable but ultimately did not cover one participant due to their lack of a license held for a minimum year.
Doesn't matter what type of visa you have. Plenty of insurance providers have motorbike insurance regardless of length of stay or visa. Insurance providers doesn't request your visa type.

Bought a bike November, got insurance no issues, I did need to produce a residence certificate, which is easy enough from immigration.
since November, was an easy 2yr transfer type licence from UK. You will also need a separate residence certificate for this for the DLT. So be sure to get 2, 1 for buying the bike, the other to get a licence. Each certificate expires after 30days from issue date.
the dealership got the insurance sorted out for me. I'll take a look for you. Yes I have basic motorcycle endorsement on my UK licence, which was enough for here.

This is easy and very affordable and also offers third party liability which is very important
unfortunately Roojai won’t cover me. I think it’s probably that I’ve held a license for less than 1 yr

The type of visa you have makes no difference for insurance. What makes the difference is your driver's license. After being in Thailand for more than 90 days you must have a Thai driver's license. The type of visa extension you have only makes a difference when you renew the licenses, as you need a long term visa to get the five year license. On any tourist visa you get another two year temporary license.
