ONLY for 90 days and depends on the country of issue. In practice, Cambodians and Vietnamese need IDPs to drive here, whereas Malaysians, Singaporeans, Laotians, Bruneians, Burmese and Filipinos can drive on their home country license provided its in English. This applies to non-nationals who hold licenses issued in these countries as well but again, only for 90 days thus if establishing residency in Thailand you'll eventually require a Thai license regardless of your nationality or the driver's license you currently possess.

I know that, but some of the blanket NO answers are shockingly ignorant. Which is why I stated where I was. There is also no waiting time in Samui unlike Phuket.

Samui I did mine on tourist visa just a few days after arriving. Was a simple process and cost 410baht for medical, car and bike.

I will add, that your incorrect answers will drive business away from you. You answer because you want people to spend money with you, and you are an agent that benefits from the wrong information.

Personally, I think admin should ban people like you who profit from bad advice.

It depends on the individual DLT office and what visa you're on. If it's a tourist or visa exemption, you'll generally get a 2 year license easily but a 5 year one usually requires a long term visa or extension.

in Phuket you can get a Thai driving licence with no visa. I did it last year on a 30 day visa exempt stamp. I had to get a residency certificate and a medical certificate
