get a shitty exchange rate, have to declare it when bringing it, and possibly have it mean it doesn't meet the requirements. Great solution.

Not good for ATMs here, if you have a choice, as still has 220 baht transaction as per normal. But good for card payments. No fee for that.

I keep it for online payments and as backup incase something happens with my local back card (not yet but redundancy always is good).

And as said for travelling to other countries. I've not since before covid but Thai bank cards rarely worked. Wise always did.

Ah it is only 90 day reports and tm30 I've used them for. Thanks for the info! And I am on the same extension and that's what I needed in CM, but it was in January so might be out of date. Good luck!

Asking for my own interest too - do Fang not do this extension? They've been helpful to me before.

They weren't rude just told me I should have done a 90 day report already and they'll let me off this time, I was just confused because I'd already done it. Anyway they've accidentally done me a favour I think! Thanks for the advice and my question is answered :)

You can't even get a British birth certificate. You can apply for a "registration certificate", but it's not needed for anything like passport etc. Info on the website is good and the Embassy are good at replying to emails about it.

That too. My Thai husband (when I ask him why he and others are wearing full length layers on a hot day) says it is both.. The stereotype of poor people working outdoors plus wanting to look more what they see in media. I am obviously white and so can't comment much but Thailand was never exactly colonised (though heavily influenced by surrounding colonial powers) so maybe that aspect is slightly less important here.
