I did similar for my daughter's husband back in same price or near enough, can't remember how long they waited for their approval. You are correct it's doable, if I remember correctly we needed photo's of her and her husband together at different gatherings.

It'll cost you more in Oz, The rent (if you can get one) is very high $500 Oz plus per week, cost of living is very high, the only advantage you'll have here is that you can work, but who'll want to do that if they want to retire. Thailand is cheaper, but there's heaps of hoops you need to jump, plus they keep changing the goal post, good luck with your choice.

I also use wise to transfer, I also use another app called smartway, I sometimes find they are better than wise for larger amounts.

Can you not have what you need emailed to you and get your new passport or even have it sent out express mail if you need original. Not sure how long a new one will take though.
