I have question regarding Marriage Visa Extension based on Income. I understand that to get 1 year marriage visa extension you either need to bank 400,000 THB, or have a monthly income of 40,000 THB. I work remotely for my US employer, hence do not have a Thai work permit, but I do pay personal income taxes in Thailand on my income. Is it feasible for me to get the extension based on monthly income? Or getting an extension based on income is only possible if you work for a thai company and have a work permit?
The reason I want to go with the income route is because I think having 400,000 THB in an index fund will be more beneficial for me rather than let it rot in a Thai Bank.
Has anyone applied for and received a DTV as a creative (ie, artist, writer, artisan, musician, etc)? I'm actually attempting to spend extended time in Thailand to pursue a career change from healthcare but I don't have any particularly recent projects to show and my resume would just reflect my healthcare background and education for which I do not have a remote job lined up.
I have published a children's book in the past. I do have my own registered LLC as just my name in my home state.
I could *create* a position as I did work remotely before. I plan to apply at the hcmc consulate if that helps.
Ill be applying for another 12 month extension in december. Non o based on marriage.
This time i want to use the monthly income (40k) instead to the 400,000 in thai bank ( 2 months).
Does anyone know what docs are required required for this method. And how many months pay do i need to show. Thai work permit. Working for thai company British passport. Phuket office.
Hello. I am currently on a non-O multiple entry visa based on marriage to a Thai (issued before Savannahkhet changed the requirements regarding 400K in the bank). My question is, if I want to apply for a 1-year extension using the 40K per month income method, can I do that before my current visa expires or do I first have to extend using 400K in the bank and then after a year switch to the monthly income method. I'm unclear on this. Thank you.
Just want to share my Non-"O" experience at Chiang Mai Immigration because I find this forum quite helpful.
Arrived from Canada on a 45 day stamp Nov.2nd and wanted to apply for a Non-O. Had to do one 30 day extension first (1,900). Don't know why ($maybe) but done.
As required for my Non-"O", on Dec. 23 I finally provided the following documents over a number of visits. Busy place.
1. TM87 Application for Visa. ✅
2. Copy of passport details including the 30 extension stamp. ✅
3. 4*6 cm photo ✅
4. A very non-committal guarantee letter from the Canadian Consulate for IIRC 1,000 baht, saying that I've shown them documentation and signed an affidavit stating that I meet the 65,000 baht/month income threshold. They requested Immigration "afford me assistance as may be necessary". NOTE - The income did NOT have to be deposited into a Thai bank at any point. ✅
5. A signed acknowledgement of Penalties for a Visa overstay form. ✅
6. And last but not least a 2,000 baht application fee. ✅
My call-back day for consideration was today (Jan. 13th). I got my Non-"O" valid until April 11th, yay! Was told that I could renew/extend up to 45 days prior to that date and be given a 1 year visa at that time requiring 90 day reports (another 1,900 baht I assume) which I will do.
QUESTION - Assuming no issues arise could I buy a single re-entry permit, leave Thailand on April 19th and not return until November and the visa still be valid? Would the 90 day reports kick in again at that point or am I knackered?
The end, almost. When I left Immigration someone had liberated my motorbike helmet and I got a ticket on my way to the shop for a new one. Some days just go like 😔.
Hey ho.. So, selfishly join when I have a personal enquiry of course..
For 6 years I've had 400k parked in the bank for the 2 months prior to visa renewal. (Marriage extension). All good.. no probs.
THIS year we want to do some land shopping.. and I will prob only have 200k.
So.. every month for at least 2 years I've had $2,000 dropped in from America every month to my BKK bank account giving me an average income of 60k baht pcm. All easily shown on statement as International transfers. I understand what to do with the bank.
I've NEVER done the income based application. But poss this year might need to.
Do you anticipate any difficulties for me given I've always had the wadge before?
Hello, I will go to CW immigration soon to apply for a 1 year extension based on being married to a Thai. I will choose the monthly income route. I entered Thailand on a Non-O ME (Spouse) visa, which expired already.
Does anyone have an up to date list of documents I need to bring?
Hello! My husband and I are US citizens, on non imm O visas for retirement/extension of stay in Nakhon Si Thammarat. May will be our 4th extension.
We are being told by a local attorney that depositing at least 65k per month income into a Thai bank from a foreign source no longer applies to Americans!? Is this true? I cannot find any documentation on this. We have been depositing more than that for the past year.
