What is the process for someone to visit from Thailand to the United States? I have a friend (Thai National) who wants to come over to Los Angeles but she said that there's a wait of about 300 days for an interview and she's a little confused by the process.
Does anyone here have any insight as to how someone could visit the US for maybe 2 weeks to a month or longer?
I've just spent over 2 hours trying to apply for visas for me and Laurie to visit our holiday home in Thailand. The process is online only, whereas we used to go to the Thai embassy in London and talk to a human being. The online application proceess was tedious as there were so many documents to upload, including passport (photo page plus pages to show no international travel in past 12 months), recent photo, plus additional photo holding open passport, airline tickets, proof of earnings, proof of UK residency, proof of ownership of property in Thailand, signed declaration. This is followed by payment, then what happens next - the site crashed on me!!!!!!!! I'm going to wait to see if I hear anything in the next 24 hours, and if the payment goes through. Finger crossed I don't have to go through that again! Once the visa is approved (assuming it is), next step is to book covid PCR tests in the UK and in Thailand, plus book 1 day for quarantine in Thailand while we wait for the (negative) PCR test result. Finally, at least 7 days before travel we need to apply for a Thailand pass or we won't make it past the airport in Thailand! So many hoops to jump through just to visit our own holiday home!!!!! I feel a headache coming on!
Update to our Chiang Mai 60 day tourist visa extension experience. Wife and I arrived in BKK on Dec. 18th. stamped in until Feb. 15th. Went to CM IO on Jan. 26th and applied for Covid extension, bypassing the normal 30 day tourist extension for the same 1900THB. Received an under consideration stamp for Feb. 10th. Went back this morning and in 15 minutes we left with a 60 day extension taking us to April 16th. This was awesome as they gave us 60 days from the end of our initial Feb. 15th TR visa expiration vs. from when we applied. We'll go back end of March to get another 60 day Covid extension.
Ok hopefully this isn't a stupid question. I searched awhile but can't find an answer. Is there a limit to how many times you can exit at a border cross? I know you can only do visa exempt (border cross) twice in a year.
My issue is I was thinking of taking a bus/train out of Thailand and staying in Kuala Lumpur a few days to get a 60 day tourist visa. Handle some personal business then fly back in the next week. Is this possible or would there be a problem? Oh I'm am American passport holder. Thanks in advance.
SETV from Colombo, Sri Lanka - doable not recommend.
The website list several recommendations most of which are no applicable to SETV (letter from local sponsor, letter from Thai sponsor, marriage certificate, etc, etc)
I gave them
Certified bank statement from Thailand
Bank statement from US bank
Bus ticket leaving Thailand
Plane ticket into Thailand
Copy of my lease agreement in Thailand
Copy of my US tax papers (verification of employment)
Wait 1 week and got the SETV. The people at the embassy working with the public are locals to Sir Lanka and not terrible helpful. Oddly they are behind one-way mirror so you can see them.
hi guys, where is easier to extend a setv (uk passport) - krabi or koh samui? it expires 12th jan so am i too early to extend (i have heard you need to be in your last 30days)? tia x
