* Land borders are open like normal during holidays.
If you have a stamp that is expiring during holidays when the immigration offices are closed and you show up at the immigration office on the very next working day you will not be fined for overstay and can get your extension like normal. But you will get an overstay stamp in your passport that says; "overstay xxx days, fine waived due to holiday/closure".
Tomorrow is the last day you can visit an immigration office until 17th April. If you need an extension or other service prior to the 17th then go tomorrow. Many offices will be very busy because of the upcoming closures.
Many offices will be absolutely manic on the 17th because of the 5 day closure. Also bear in mind that services can take extra time just purely because of the volume of people. It’s not the staffs fault that so many decide to show up at the same time.
If you can avoid going in tomorrow or the 17th then it’s probably wise to do so.
*NOTE immigration offices will be closed from the 28th July until the 2nd of August. They’ll re open on the 3rd August. That’s 6 days of closures. The 3rd will be really busy at many offices.
If you need an extension but your stamp expires during these dates you will be able to get an extension as normal on the 3rd and you won’t be fined but you will get a stamp in your passport saying “overstay. fine waived due to closure”.
Please note that immigration offices around the country will be closed on August 1st and 2nd (Buddhist Lent day and Asalha Puja day) and also on August 14th (a substitute day for the Queens birthday on the 12th).
Plan accordingly.
Land, sea or air borders are open as normal.
Edit: It appears that July 31st is also a holiday too. This means immigration offices will be closed from the 28th July until the 2nd of August and will reopen on the 3rd August. Avoid the 3rd if you possibly can. Many offices will be super busy with that amount of time being closed.
Just for your information. Immigration offices around the country will be closed on Friday 28th July. This is the only date in July for closures (other than weekends).
