Hi, I received a 60-day visa exemption on arrival and have been in Thailand for 3 weeks now. Can I just go to Immigration now to extend my visa for another 30 days, or do I need to wait until closer to its expiration, like 10 days before or something? Thank you. 🙏
Regarding request for "guarantee" letter from US embassy. That I can't return to the US.
Chanthaburi immigration requests a letter from US embassy to say can't return, or should stay abroad.
I'm on 4th covid extension TR60. Arrived late May 2021. Less than a year.
Any advice, as I'm waiting at immigration now. They're waiting for a reply about my ability to get such a letter.
UPDATE: FYI
US embassy website had no information on letters that I could find.
After a little while in immigration, and a few quick questions about why I want to stay, they asked to see my outbound flight documents and hotel receipt.
Next they requested a TM30 from my hotel (my hotel previously said I was registered electronically, hmm), and they asked signed outbound flight docs.
Upon submission, I received a conditional stamp indicating I must return to that office ON April 1st. They explained, I would receive the extension at that time until May 17th ( my flight is 5th, May, so plenty of time). I was considering an ED visa, but doing it in the back of these two stamps is having me think it's better to leave and return on a fresh visa...
I will note, that my previous stamps were in Pattaya, and received:
1 consideration stamp <30 days.
1 extension for 30 days.
Again, I came in on a TR60..
Two of the immigration officers shook their heads when they first saw my
passport.
I can't imagine why.. I'm here for tourism, with appropriate extensions, and with in a year.
