Hi I live in Koh Tao and got married to a Thai in the UK in 2023. I want to change from my non-o 90 day visa to a one year non-o visa.
Have been told by my visa agent that she doesn't know how to help me... 🙄so hopefully you guys can help me.
What do I need to do? I have read many threads and there is always contradictory advice so I am very lost.
Do I apply for the 'affirmation of marriage status' form on the UK gov website? That form is worded as if it is for unmarried persons and also asks what date and location I'm going to be married in, which makes me think that is the wrong form for someone who is already married. Don't want to pay £75 for the wrong form.
I have heard I need to get a "kor ror 22" and also certify my UK marriage certificate then get it translated but not sure how to go about it.
Can anyone please shine some light on what I need to do?
Thank you!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, currently on a NON-O 90-day visa after marrying a Thai citizen in the UK, seeks guidance on transitioning to a one-year NON-O visa. They are uncertain about the necessary documentation, such as the UK marriage certificate verification and translation process, and what additional forms are needed for the visa application. Community responses suggest that the marriage certificate must be certified in the UK, translated into Thai, and then legalized at the Thai embassy before it can be used in Thailand to obtain the kor ror 22 document. Further advice is provided on contacting embassies for assistance with document requirements.

Hihi Luke I’m from Belgium and my Thai wife and I married in Belgium too. So what to do to get your marriage papiers in order for Thailand? I did it all last year…….. first get your uk marriage certificate translated in Thai and get your uk certificate legalised by uk foreign affaires than take your uk certificate and Thai translation off it and get it legalised in Thai ambassy in uk too. Than when you go Thailand get it all again legalised by Thai foreign affaires in Bangkok and than get your marriage certificate registered. I just went this morning here in my city hall in Thailand to finalise the registration off our marriage. I took some running around and patience but all is well and done now.

For what it's worth this is how it works for me from NZ (I assume it will be similar for UK). Get the marriage certificate authenticated in the UK. When you arrive in Thailand it needs to be certified, translated and legalized (in that order). For me the NZ embassy certify, you then take it to a translation service and then to Foreign Affairs for legalizing. You then take it to your local Amphur where you'll be living to get the kor ror 22. Contact your embassy in Bangkok, I'm sure they'll put you on the right track. Hope this helps.

I am at the beginning of this journey - just preparing to move to Thailand. We got married in Poland EU and so far I translated our original marriage certificate into english by sworn translator and took both original+translated version to stamp in the ministry of foreign affairs- in my embassy they said it will be enough for later in Thailand

As you are legally married you can’t get married again.

Has to be done in the UK . Marriage certificate sent to FCDO then translated into Thai then sent to Thai Embassy in London for certification.

Not an expert on Thai marriages outside of Thailand but I believe it’s a PITA. You have to get your marriage certified via some place in Milton Keynes and they then send it off to the Thai embassy for ratification. This link may help a bit.
