That’s it. Job done. 1 year extension of stay based on marriage. Thanks to all on this page Tod, Robert and all. 

Got my stamp at Samut Prakan immigration this morning. 

It’s taken me from April 27th till today to jump through the hoops which are required by immigration. 

I arrived on a visa exempt, have not left the country since then. 

Not once was there a problem at immigration. 

The officers have been very helpful. 

Roll on Sept 3rd 2020 to do it all again.

5 mins at Bluport mall Hua Hin for the 90 days. Take the missus on a Wednesday lunchtime, excellent second hand clothes market in the basement near immigration and 20% off at Fuji

It is 4 months, first from Visa Exempt Entry conversion to Non Immigrant O visa and 90 days of stay, than application for Extension of Stay which goes under consideration for 30 days before you get the remaining 11 months. It takes different steps to get to this level and the timing is the normal procedure.

Remember, you have to report every 90 days to immigration though. Alternatively send your passport with a trusted motorbike taxi which will cost about 300 thb per time, it saves you wasting a day at any immigration office

You don't waste a day at Samut Prakan doing your 90 day report, I have never spent over 30 minutes there for 90 day. Even my one year extension is usually less than one hour.

you can do this on-line takes about 5 minutes while sitting in a lazy chair, give your passport to a motorbike taxi driver to visit Immigration is not what I would do.
