Anyone been to the Thai Consulate in Hong Kong to get their Thai visa? Was it an ok experience compared to other countries? I think I'm only getting a 2 month Tourist visa this time (while I make up mind mind on longer term visas). By the way I'm Australian, so I'd love to hear an Aussie's perspective if possible, but not necessary.

That’s interesting. I never thought of a METV as I don’t hear much about them. I’ve always gotten a 2 monther and extended. Plus I got a volunteer visa and work permit (though I’m not at that company anymore).

I was thinking of doing a Self defence visa after the 2 monther and extension expire.

I wonder how/why KL consulate was able to bend the rules when Vientane and S'khet will not?

The thai consulate in Kuala Lumpur will issue 6 month METV's to people who don't reside in Malaysia.

Hong Kong is fine provided you have all the required documents. I used them frequently in the past. Note: HKID card is not required, although it is mentioned on their website, just show them your arrival card is fine. Good luck!
