I am currently here on a STV and am going to be doing my first extension soon. I am wondering what documents I need for the extension? Are there forms to fill out prior to going to immigration?
TIA

TLDR : Answer Summary
To extend your Special Tourist Visa (STV) in Thailand, you need to complete the TM7 form and possibly the STM2 form, which can be obtained at the immigration office. Additionally, you'll need a recent passport photo, proof of insurance specifically for STV holders, details of your accommodation, and copies of your passport's data page, entry stamp, and the departure card (TM6).
Youâd need to fill out a TM7 form and probably a STM2 one too. Theyâll have them at the office so I wouldnât panic about filling them out beforehand. Youâll need a passport photo and because itâs and STV youâll need to show insurance and accommodation details too. Theyâll want copies of your passport data page, entry stamp and the TM6 (departure card) in your passport.
yes you need Thai insurance. Really not sure why embassies are approving initial visas when it gives a list of the approved vendors on most embassies websites
sorry Iâm not sure about the stipulation of what insurance is required. Perhaps someone else can confirm if thatâs the case. You can make the copies yourself beforehand, but most offices will have copy places on site or nearby, usually something like 2baht or so a page.
For the 90 day extension of stay based on STV, you will submit the following documents found in the attached e-mail. You will go to Changwattana Immigration Office for that service.
For the TM 30, in Bangkok, you can self file at the Muang Thong Thani immigration office. You will need the following documents:
Self filing a TM. 30 requires the following documents:
1. The passport and a copy of:
a. The data âpictureâ page
b. The most recent visa (if applicable).
c. All entry stamps or extension of stays (if applicable) since arrival
d. The departure card (âTM 6â) that should be stapled in the passport.
2. The original and one copy of the lease.
3. A completed TM. 30 form filled out as follows:
a. The foreignerâs name is completed on the top form
b. The foreignerâs current address is written in both address spaces.
c. On the second page, the table, complete as normal.
The TM30 paperwork can be found in the office.
Easiest way to get to both immigration offices is BTS to Wat Phra Sri Mahathat station, then get a cab from the roundabout under the station.
