Can I get some clarification on overstay for kids. 

my kids (under 10years old) their tourist visa expired a few days ago, totally my fault I know. 

I've been reading post in here that there is a way for a visa agent to get the overstay penalty removed or wavied...( I don't know how true that is) 

We are in Pattaya and leaving in early jan regardless, flights already booked to head out of BKK for Vietnam then coming back again to Thailand after spending a few days out of the kingdom.

Is it possible to get their overstay removed from their record before we leave Thailand? or will it be permanently in their passport?

I daughter-was 8 years old, got a stamp for overstay for two days- no fine. I was not aware of situation as she is a dual citizen but entered Thailand with an Australian passport. I did not know the law at time.

Kids under 15 cannot be fined for overstay. Kids under 18 cannot be banned from Thailand for overstay. There are some kids that have been here for years on overstay.

When they leave they get a “overstay” stamp in their passport and that’s it.

There are no repercussions about them having such a stamp on future visits to Thailand.

As their parent, you can absolutely be harassed by immigration officers when attempting to leave the country. It happened to me when my son was 6, and a nasty officer kept demanding 10,000 baht cash and tried to prevent us from getting through immigration and onto our plane. If a representative from Bangkok Airways hadn't been standing on the other side of the turnstiles waiting to RUN with us to our gate, I don't know what would have happened. I should also mention that I had my son's completed visa paperwork with me, ready to get his visa from the Thai Embassy in the U.S.

Like many things here a lot is to do with the individual immigration officer. I was just stating the Thai laws on overstay for kids. They may harass you but there is nothing they can do within the law as it stands.

It may be a bit awkward but stand your ground or ask for a supervisor. Absolutely do not give in to extortion tactics.

I did stand my ground, and refused to pay. I knew the law. I wasn't expecting the harassment, though.
