In Phuket now, going to Ranong/Myanmar tomorrow. Does anyone have any experience with doing this not through a tour company? Wanting to take bus by myself. Any recommendations?

I would recommend a motorbike taxi to Andaman Club, instead of Victoria point.

Quick speed boat takes you to a hotel (with casino and duty free) where you stamp into Mayanmar. You can come straight back on the same boat you arrived on, or you can spend some time at the hotel. Boats back to Thailand leave every hour or so.

Go to Phuket Bus Terminal 2, take your ticket to Ranong first counter on the right (225 bath) and jump in the bus (main direction is Chumpon). Only 3 bus per day : 7:10am 4:10pm and 6:10pm

Yes Ranong but bus hold a Chumpon plate. And take a taxi motorbike to go to immigration, quite far

 When I buy the ticket to Ranong will it say Ranong or Chumpon? Also I have to take a taxi from Ranong bus station to immigration, correct?
