TLDR : Answer Summary
Once your DTV (Thai Digital Nomad Visa) is approved, you have a maximum of 5 years to enter Thailand. Multiple commenters clarified that while the visa itself remains valid for 5 years, it is essential to apply for the visa within 3 months of your planned entry date, as many embassies have this guideline for visa applications. Therefore, ensure you submit your application with a tentative entry date within this time frame.
probably didn't hear it. Likely got confused. Probably heard that some embassies advise that you intend to enter within 3 months of application. At least with e-Visa site, must provide tentative entry date, flight, location.
you can check e-Visa site to confirm (can do a draft application), but if I recall correctly they ask for entry date and flight and accommodations. I suppose it's a bit unclear, but most people seem to have taken the questions to mean possible/tentative plans.
Edit: no confirmation of flight booking. Just enter a flight #, which can be found easy enough.
I gave tentative, and it was fine. Why would I book flights and hotels when visa isnβt guaranteed and can take time. Yes, for visa applications, they ask you to apply within 3 months of travel, because they are usually swamped. Also, most visas are only good for a short amount of time. However, once you have the visa, you can enter anytime within the 5 years (unless they change laws)
