Is proof of funds required for NON-O dependant visas in Thailand?

In the Malaysian border towns, immigration targeted those who didn’t put 200THB in their passports when crossing. They say it has stopped, but I doubt it.

Quick tip if you need to pull the 20 K baht from an airport ATM do it before you pass though security as ATM's can often not be found after stamping out.

okay the way the rule is written you can be asked to show proof of funds on ANY entry be it a 30 day visa exempt, a 60 day tourist visa, a 90 day or 1 year or 5 year Non-Immigrant visa. The only VISA that I'm aware of that is 'exempt' from the proof of funds is any of the Thai Elite visas available.

You also will not be asked for proof of funds on any extension of stay on a Non-Immigrant Type visa.

So to answer your question YES, you could be asked for proof of funds on a multi-entry Non-Immigrant Type visa and if asked you'd have to show 20K baht or the equivalent in cash BUT in all reality it is much more like Robert mentioned and driven by extensive entry history to thailand on visa exempt or tourist visa entries.

Nothing is certain in Thailand at the moment as it's like Germany just before WWII.....So it's best to ensure you cover all basis and carry it on you like

Immigration is allowed to ask, at the moment we only have reports of this from people on longer history with Tourist Visa and Visa Exempt Entry. a Question will they ask can not be answered. It is at the decision of the Immigration Officer.

Immigration can see your full travel history even if you have a new passport.
