Hi everyone. Has anyone applied and received a Special Tourist Visa through the Thai embassy in Washington DC? I completed my application online and mailed everything to them on June 1, and I know they received it by June 4. So far my application is still in "post your passport and e-appointment" status. I was expecting it wouldn't take very long provided there were no problems with the application, but this makes me fear that my documents have just been sitting somewhere in the embassy untouched ๐
Also, has anyone verified whether it is true that those who arrive on or after July 3 cannot extend the STV? I was hoping to extend my stay for the full amount possible but I am scheduled to arrive exactly on July 3. I haven't seen any official mention of this anywhere, only on travel websites not affiliated with the embassy.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the duration and status of their Special Tourist Visa (STV) application submitted to the Thai embassy in Washington, DC, on June 1. They are worried about delays and the status of their passport. Additionally, they seek clarification on whether arrivals on or after July 3rd will not be able to extend their STV. Responses confirm that those arriving after July 3rd cannot extend their STV, and suggest alternative visa options.
And once it's done, it's done. Gotta leave the country to get a different type of visa. STVs can't be converted in-country.

My status on the website never changed beyond that so no worries. You should get it all back any day. July 3rd was set as the 'no-extension' date since it's in the last 90 days of the program so you might be screwed staying beyond 30 Sept

Are you aware that the STV cannot be extended in any way beyond the scope of the STV scheme. And arriving July 3rd will mean that you can't extend even within the STV concept. Maybe go for the 60 day TV and possibility to extend one time. Atleast with that there may be options to extend in country.
I was aware that you could not convert to another visa, which was fine, but no, only learned about the impossibility of extending the STV from July 3 until after the application was submitted.
