How can I correct a mistake on my Thai DTV visa regarding the country listed?

Feb 18, 2025
Has anyone experienced this issue with a Thai visa?

I just received my DTV visa, but there is a mistake in the "Passport / TD" section—it shows the wrong country.

Does anyone know if it's possible to correct this after the visa has been issued, or would I need to apply for a new visa?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

UPDATE: They let me in! The immigration officer didn’t even look at the paper I brought with me (eVisa).

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user received a Thai DTV visa with a mistake in the 'Passport / TD' section showing the wrong country. The user sought advice on whether it could be corrected or if a new visa application was necessary. Responses from the community varied, with some suggesting contacting the embassy and others advising against expecting a successful correction. Ultimately, the user was allowed entry into Thailand despite the mistake, leading to updates on their experiences with the embassy and immigration processes.

You can usually contact the embassy on Facebook messenger in most countries. Try it before you laugh

Thanks, but it didn't work in this case -they don't have an active Facebook account.

I just flew in on that visa, and they let me in.

Update:

There’s no way to enter the embassy and speak with someone in person because if you mention anything related to a visa, they just tell you to do it online. Security won’t even let you in. However, after making several calls, someone finally answered and told me that this is a common issue. They advised me to try explaining my case at the airport.

I’m not even sure if I can reapply for a new visa since the one I received is still valid/active.

Anyway, I think I’ll try flying with the visa I have.

Don't expect them to fix it. They'll feign ignorance and say that it must have been you who entered the wrong details. They won't even go back and check in their system. They'll just tell you to reapply. But I wish you good luck. Let us know what happened.

did you deal with embassy in Phnom Penh?

It happened to me. Apparently it was my mistake when applying through the embassy in Athens. Thry offered me the option to have it corrected on paper, but they couldn’t do it in the system, meaning that when presenting the visa, if the officer noted the mismatch, they couldn’t have rejected it. So for my piece of mind I decided to re-apply. It’s bern a costu mistake but I valued my piece of mind much more than that.

It’s strange that they approved it anyway, because they have all the data and a scan of the passport with the country of issue.

In your email subject line write something like URGENT APPROVED VISA DATA ERROR to get their attention.

Contact the embassy and let them know about it. They're the only ones who can fix it.

I did it twice, but I didn’t get a reply. Tomorrow, I’m going there in person. However, I wanted to ask anyway if there’s any chance they will change it smoothly.
