Hello 🙂 another question from me. So my boyfriend got an extension for one year and he has to do a notice every 90 days. Does it mean he has to pay 1,900 baht each time? :)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The 90-day report is free of charge for all visa holders, including those with a one-year NON-O visa. Your boyfriend is required to complete the 90-day reporting process, but he will not incur any fees for this. The initial visa application may involve a 1,900 baht fee, but subsequent 90-day reports do not require any payment.

But, if he has an ED (student) visa, he needs to extend it every 3 months, which costs money. Even with the extension he still needs to do a 90 day report, which is free.
the 1 year ones need to be extended every 3 months. Unless it has changed in the past 2 years, that is how it was for all ED visas when I studied Thai.
Either way, it's not relevant to this post as the OP is talking about a Non-O visa.
That's not correct, just because you paid for a year long course, doesn't mean you got a year visa. Most of the cheap Thai language programs can only get 90 day Ed visas. There are 1 year Ed visas, you don't extned a 1 year Ed visa every 90 days, it's already a year VISA.
90 day reports and whatever visa/extension you have are independent of each other. If you have a visa/extension that allows you to stay in Thailand for more than 90 days you must report to the immigration office (or online or by mail).
If you leave Thailand (say for a holiday) the requirement to report stops the day you leave and resets to day 1 the day you return.
Confuses the hell out of many, and is completely ridiculous, but you have to follow the rules of the country.
