Our son (Swiss) and his girlfriend (US) are visiting us here on Phuket for 5 weeks. Do they have to be reported by our Landlord at Immigration (TM30)? They entered the country visa-free for 30 days and would like to extend for another 30 days. Do they need the TM30 for this?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The landlord may not need to report your son and his girlfriend to Immigration (TM30) for their stay in Phuket, as local practice suggests that a TM30 is not required for short-term visa extensions in this area. Although official guidelines state a TM30 is necessary, experiences from others indicate it is often not enforced for 30-day extensions.
The website does indeed say that a TM30 is needed, but in actual fact it’s not needed in Phuket for short term extensions (other than those special cases where some countries can get multiple extensions with an embassy letter).
this info should help your son and their g/f get their extensions 🙂

EDITED; (thanx Stuart) it appears that Phuket does not require a TM30 when you apply for a 30 day extension.. Even though it does say so on that Phuket volunteer site
These are the requirements posted by the Phuket Immigration Volunteer website for a 30 day extension;
, yep. My husband and I are South African and came into Thailand on visa exempt. Yesterday we got our extensions without TM30 at Phuket Immigration. Yay!
