Hi guys. I was meant to be going to Hong Kong on Wednesday to apply for my Non B working visa having previously been on a non O visa. Plan was land Wednesday, Consulate Thursday, collect docs Friday and return to BK Saturday. Work have just called to say I can't do that now as need to spend 6 days out the country, as I need to arrive and they then have to apply for WP whilst out the country. I'm sure I read the other day that HK was one of the easiest for Non Immigrant B. Work are insistent I only go to Singapore or Hong Kong. Are they right about 6 days away or wrong? Seems extravagant. Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is questioning the necessity of staying 6 days outside Thailand to apply for a Non-B visa at a consulate. Their employer insists on going to either Singapore or Hong Kong due to work permit application requirements. Comments confirm that Hong Kong does not require proof of a work permit, making it easier for Non-B visa applications compared to other locations. Additionally, some consulates, such as in Singapore, allow online applications without needing a work permit initially. The post also highlights concerns about a typhoon affecting travel plans.
You're right Hong Kong is one of the only thai consulates that doesn't require a proof of work permit when applying for a single entry Non-B.
AFAIK: every other consulate in S/E Asia does.
For the thai consulate in singapore, you apply online (scan and submit you documentation) and they tell you when you can come in to get your visa. You could apply there without the receipt and see what they say
thanks Tod. Is there anywhere this is written so I can show my work place? Regarding HK I mean.

Most Thai Embassies and Consulates want to see the WP3 form (Work Permit application). Some Ministry of Labor only allow to use this application method WP3 (foreigner is abroad) if the foreigner is really abroad. So you leave Thailand, the company applies for the WP, get the confirmation paper and letter and will send or fax those to you. It take some days to arrange that.

I tried to look up the website with requirements, could not find it for the Non Immigrant B. That is why I wrote: MOST Thai ......... etc. And the reason why it can take longer than 2 days for a visa.
They are actually cheaper than usual because of this, but they may cancel many during those days starting Sunday depending on how strong the typhoon hits HK.
