I'm on a 30 day visa exemption + 30 day extension (Not Tourist Visa). I just renewed my USA passport and got it in the mail today.

I think I'm supposed to go to immigration to have my stamp transferred to the new passport now - but what happens if I don't and I just showup at the airport with both passports?

Is there a fine or anything?

Would like to save myself the extra trip to immigration if it can be avoided.

If you just leave by air, you don't need to transfer your extension stamp to your new passport.

These cases are when you have to transfer your stamps (extension, re-entry, but not entry/initial stamp).

- when you need to apply for an extension

- in case you leave Thailand through one of the land borders ( because some land border checkpoints don't allow you to leave without transferring a stamp)

So as you say you are just leaving by air, no need to go to the immigration office to transfer stamps.
