TLDR : Answer Summary
The question addresses whether an individual must leave Thailand by the expiration of their work permit in April 2018, despite having a valid visa until December 2018. One comment seeks clarification on whether the individual’s visa is issued through an embassy or a local immigration office and inquires about their border run or 90-day reporting habits.

Is it a Visa (sticker from Embassy or Consulate) or an Extension of Stay stamp for local Immigration Office. To make it easy, do you do every 90 days a border run or do you report every 90 days at Immigration?

Than you are not on a Visa but an Extension of Stay based on working. This means the day you stop working you have to cancel your Work Permit and take the papers to the Immigration office to cancel your Extension of Stay, you can apply for new extension but if you do not meet any requirements you get a Extension for 7 days to leave the country.
