TLDR : Answer Summary

Check embassy/consulate sites in Australia, and these for general information. And see if you can qualify for the requirements for the visa you want. Then you can decide what route you want to go on retirement in Thailand. That is the decision ONLY you can make. Nobody in this group knows your preferences or conditions for your visa. Then ask away the specific question here..
im lost with all this so start with im applying for a visa January 17th to arrive in Bangkok February 2nd thats when my age pension starts February 2nd so have to have a visa to open bank account to have 800,000baht for 2 months then apply for retirement visa so whats the right visa to apply for first ?

You say you will be arriving into Thailand with a Visa good for 90 days.

FYI ... IF you can get the OX visa from the Thai Embassy in Sydney Australia, it's best long stay visa available anywhere. NO FUNDS needed to be on deposit in Thailand.
Here is Link to recent success by an Aussie...
It's a 5+5 = 10 year Long Stay Visa for retirement in Thailand.
