Hello I am currently on a non o marriage visa 1 year extension. I want to change to non o retirement visa when marriage Visa extension expires. Do I need covid 19 insurance to do this or is my normal thai health and life insurance enough. Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is looking to switch from a Non-O marriage visa with a one-year extension to a Non-O retirement visa upon expiration. They are inquiring whether COVID-19 insurance is necessary for this transition, or if existing Thai health and life insurance will suffice. A comment notes that there is no insurance requirement for this type of extension change, but suggests checking with the local immigration office to ensure compliance, since some offices may prefer sticking to the marriage visa extension.

There is no requirement for insurance for a extension based on retirement switch. (As opposed to an extension based off a non OA visa). You are not getting a visa, you are simply changing your reason for a yearly extension. You may want to check that your immigration office will allow you to do this. I’ve heard some want to “force” you to get the extension based on marriage if you are married to a Thai.
