Dear Members,

I like to come in Bangkok and have Visa on Arrival. For this visa I need return tickect. I am saying Return ticket, because mostly it is used this word in entry requirements, but sometimes it is used also Onward ticket. I know that the point is to prove that I will go out from Thailand within 15 days. 

Anyway, my question is following. I want to come in next days from Abu Dhabi in Bangkok and after 14 days fly to Kuala Lumpur? Is this option fine for getting Visa on Arrival? I will have a ticket from BKK to KL. Who will check my return/onward ticket? Airline company in Abu Dhabi or immigration officer in BKK airport? 

Second question. After using two weeks Visa on Arrival, I like to apply in Thai embassy in Kuala Lumpur for 60 days Tourist Visa. Is this fine? Should I wait few days in Kuala Lumpur before applying at the embassy or I can do the application almost day or two after arrival in KL? 

It will be my first and second time going in Thailand.

thats fine for onward ticket, but I recall you might need to be in your home country to apply for that visa. might be better off coming back same way, visa in arrival find a well know visa agent and get 30 day extension, or do it yourself.

Either could ask to see your onward ticket. The reason the airline asks is BECAUSE immigration could ask and if you didn’t have it your return trip cost would be on them. Beyond that, what Stuart said :-). You can go in right away, but have an appointment and your files obviously ready.

KL embassy requires an appointment to apply for any visa. You won’t get in the gate without one. Go to their website book an appointment and print off the list of requirements for the visa type you are applying for. Tick each box when you have that requirement. You won’t get in the gate without a completed sheet either.

Who will check your onward travel? In my experience, the airline flying you to Thailand, and possibly Thai immigration.

Regarding your application for a 60-day tourist visa, you should check with that embassy about what they need and how long it takes: there's a lot of variation between embassies.

yes, airlines do because if Thailand wants to deny anyone entry they'll be looking at the airline that flew them in to take them out again.

back in the day I could get away with waving an Expedia itinerary around, or booking and then cancelling within 24 hours. I've not tried ticket rental but people say it works.

yeh its now changed. Auto checkin is enabled for my flight back up not for my flight over as they wish to look at my documents. So got a flight out to Cambodia within 30 days to show them

Return travel isn't required for anything. It's onward travel that you need (just proof of leaving Thailand)
