Hello. I resigned from my job today after working for 9 months. I have a non imm b visa which says it was valid till Jul 2023. I also have a stamp in my passport saying extension of stay upto may 2024 (issued in July 2023). So can I stay till may or will be required to leave earlier? Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has resigned from their job and seeks clarification on whether they can stay in Thailand until May 2024, given their visa situation. The comments indicate that after resignation, their work permit is canceled, which affects their visa status. Multiple responses suggest they must leave Thailand soon, as their extension of stay is linked to their employment. They may have only 7 days to leave after canceling their extension. One user suggested a border run as an option for extending their stay.
Ok to clarify you are not on a non B visa. You had one previously but now you are on an extension of stay permitted because you are working. Once the reason for that permit to stay stops so does the permitted to stay date, regardless that it may be in the future.
If your workplace is amicable they they may write you a letter to say that youβre finishing in a week or so which would give you some leeway to cancel your work permit and extension of stay.

If you are on an extension of stay and you stop working you have to leave Thailand that same day but you also have to cancel your extension of stay. Normally you can cancel in advance with the cooperation of your employer

Go to where you got your extension, cancel it and leave Thailand immediately

Your extension ends the same day as your work permit. Once HR department submit documents to cancel your work permit, you should leave within same day, or apply for extension of stay which will be denied and given 7 days instead to leave the kingdom.
You need to leave. Only a valid visa allows you to stay an extention does not as the reason you got the extention no longer applies. You're basically on overstay now.

I think you have 7 days to leave as your work permit has now been canceled as you resigned
You need your Work permit canceled, then cancel your extension at immigration and leave immediately.
If you can prove you have a flight out within 7 days, after everything is canceled, you can apply for an extension (will be denied) and may be given 7 days to leave.
does the employment stop when the work permit is canceled? Is it that when the employer files for cancellation and then gets approved by the ministry, is when it's time to leave?
